The Ministry of Health, represented by Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Rish and the Islamic University represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Muhammad al-Akluk signed MoU for the operation of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, during the emergency phase resulting from the spread of the pandemic, COVID 19.
The memo states the formation of a joint committee from the MoH in Gaza and the Islamic University to define the hospital’s operating policy and to determine the departments that can be operated during the emergency period, general supervision of the work progress and addressing the obstacles during the operation process.
Dr. Abu al-Reish praised the great support from Turkey to the health sector in Palestine, and appreciated the role of Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency TIKA, on this tender, which came in time placed enormous strain on Gaza’s already under-resourced and over-burdened health care system. Gaza health facilities are facing a critical shortage of essential medicines and supplies to face the pandemic COVID 19 outbreak.
Dr. Aklouk considered this step as an addition to enhance the services and health care provided by the Ministry of Health, especially during this emergent time.
