Environmental Health department in MOH -Gaza strives to improve water quality continuously

The Environmental Health Department at the MOH confirmed that its teams, in cooperation with the Environmental Quality Authority and the Municipality of Gaza, are continually seeking to improve the quality of seawater in Gaza.
These improvements are implemented to prevent pollution resulting from the flow of wastewater into the sea.
The Acting Director of the Environmental Health Department, Eng. Khaled Al-Tibi pointed out that the last water- analysis during May showed a decrease in the percentage of seawater pollution compared to the analyzes conducted during the month of April of this year.
Al-Taibi pointed out that, despite the marked improvement in seawater, there are still caveats for swimming in many areas, pointing out that pollution only on the beaches and that it did not harm fishing or fisheries.
Eng. Al-Tibi indicated that projects that seek to improve the quality of seawater and reduce pollution rates conflict with the arbitrary occupation measures that prevent the entrance of equipment needed for these projects.
Pointing out that the current Corona crisis prevented a delegation of experts from reaching the Gaza Strip due to the global conditions resulting from the epidemic, stressing that the Gaza Strip will witness a gradual and noticeable improvement in seawater if projects for wastewater treatment are established.
