A press release issued by the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, World Kidney Day
The celebration of the International Day for Kidney Diseases on the tenth of March of each year is no longer just a day in which he remembers how to preserve the kidneys and avoid many diseases, while kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip suffer from a severe shortage of their medicines and medical consumables.
There are 1,026 kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip pivot in 7 dialysis centers equipped with qualified and trained medical and nursing staff, which contain 197 dialysis machines.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health introduced the first national program for kidney transplantation in 2013, whereby medical delegations in cooperation with local staff were able to perform 113 kidney transplants.
Despite the efforts of the Ministry of Health, it remains helpless due to the continuing Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, which prevents the necessary medicines from reaching patients with kidney failure. As for those who have undergone kidney transplants, they are in constant fear of returning to hemodialysis sessions due to the severe shortage of the necessary medications.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, on the World Kidney Day as every year, renews its call for all concerned parties to provide medicines and consumables for renal failure and kidney transplantation patients to ensure that they receive an integrated health service without inconvenience, as many patients have been killed while they are waiting for a pill.
