Ministry of Health – Gaza Strip

The Ministry of Health continues its efforts to strengthen the precautionary measures to counter the new Coronavirus as Covid 19, as follows:

1- Up till now, medical personnel in the central laboratory conducted 92 tests of the suspected cases; all of these results were negative. Therefore, we confirm that the Gaza Strip is free of the new Coronavirus.
2- The medical personnel followed up 1271 cases in 20 different quarantine centers classified according to the date of the returnees entry to the country.
People who are subjected to quarantine are not allowed to leave the facility or adding newcomers to the same quarantine center until the expiration period is over.

3- Medical Personal provided clinical services for 378 cases in the quarantine of the Muscat Center, Qazan Al Najjar, the Muscat Jabalia Center, Al-Amal Hotel of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, the Commodore Hotel and the Blue Beach Resort, in addition to 24 cases in the Rantisi Specialist Hospital and Al Shifa Medical Complex as part of the procedures (Special insulation).

4- The Ministry of Health ended home quarantine of 637 returnees to the Gaza Strip of whom no symptoms were recorded of them, so that the number of remaining in the home quarantine decreased to 2071 person, the period of the home quarantine for them ends next Thursday, March 26, which means the completion of home quarantine for 1,220 returnees.

5- Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Rish stated that there is a mimic simulation to examine the readiness of emergency departments, intensive care, and laboratory and diagnostic procedures following the protocols approved in hospitals

6- The continuation of the Israeli siege on turning the Gaza Strip into a fragile region lacks the health and humanitarian components, according to the United Nations reports, which announced the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Michael Link.
7- Therefore we appeal to the United Nations to lift the illegal and inhuman blockade on Gaza Strip quickly to meet the urgent needs of the respiratory and intensive care systems Medicines and medical consumables, preventive and infection control supplies to face the nCOV-19.

We urge citizens of Gaza Strip to adhere to the instructions of prevention and infection control, in addition to the personal social safety as we urge older people, children, patients of the respiratory system disease and people with weak immunity to avoid public places and crowded gatherings and communicate with the toll-free number 103 of the Ministry of Health for health inquiries around the clock.
