In a meeting gathered Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Rish, the British medical delegation specializes in kidney transplantation headed by Dr. Abdul Qader Hammad and a delegation from the Qatari Red Crescent office in Gaza represented by Akram Nassar.
During the meeting, Abu Al-Rish discussed the project of kidney transplantation, carried on in the ministry of health – Gaza hospitals’ in its 21 stage which culminated in the success of 4 new kidney transplantation surgeries, bringing the total of the completed operations since the start of the project more than 65 kidney transplant operations
Hence, Abu al-Rish commended on the efforts of the kidney transplant delegation in supporting this project, which was presented as a national project that contributed to end kidney failure patients’ suffering in the Gaza Strip .
The meeting included the signing of an agreement on human and material capacity building of the kidney transplant team in the Gaza Strip, it included training the Palestinian medical and technical staff at the Liverpool Hospital in the United Kingdom on kidney transplant programs to be able to complete the operations by themselves.
Thereafter, Dr. Abu Al-Rish honored the head of the medical delegation Dr. Hammad for his continuous efforts of making kidney transplant project successful.
It is worth mentioning the project was launched in early 2013 in partnership with the Qatar Red Crescent and funded by the Medical Aid Foundation – South Africa.
