Developments of the Ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip – Day 11
Two hundred and thirty- two (232) Palestinians have been killed, including 65 children, 39 women, and 17 elderly people, and 1900 have been wounded due to the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Health is concerned about the humanitarian situation and the health conditions of the population in Gaza.
Israeli forces targeted densely populated residential areas, displacing 50,000 families to shelters. These overcrowded shelters are now a dangerous environment for the rapid spread of COVID-19.
Direct targeting of the Ministry of Health’s facilities and health centers stopped the central laboratory’s services for the fourth day. This affects Coronavirus testing, COVID-19 vaccinations, pregnancy services, and telemedicine.
The Medical Relief Foundation’s laboratory is being utilized to provide coronavirus testing to travelers only due to the laboratory’s limited capacity.
Since the beginning of the attacks on May 11, many homes have been destroyed. Twenty-four health facilities have suffered partial or complete damage as a result of the continuous Israeli bombardment. The targeting and killing of health care professionals have added additional strain to the provision of patient services.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip appeals to all friends of human rights and of Palestinian people – whether governments or charitable and humanitarian institutions – to respond urgently, and to take effective and urgent steps to overcome this humanitarian crisis. The health sector needs an estimated USD 46.6 million to continue to provide the necessary services by the ministry.”
