Dr. Abu Rish briefs a delegation from the NIPH on the humanitarian and health situation in Gaza

Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Yousef Abu al-Rish briefed a delegation from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), and Mr. Gerald Rockensharp, head of the WHO office in Palestine about the details of the worsened humanitarian and health situation by the continued siege on the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Abu al-Rish: said ” the siege imposed on Gaza strip have affected various sectors of life in Gaza, especially the health sector, which is in continuing decline due to the lack of medicines and medical supplies that have deprived hundreds of patients of completing their treatment, especially oncology patients, renal failure, and chronic diseases patients.”
“Over a year and a half, Great March of Return casualties have been counting in thousands, on the 14th of May last year 2,800 injuries within two hours flocked to the emergency departments most of them have been injured with lethal weapons, which drained more medical supplies” he added.
However, the medical personnel dealt with the urgent situation with efficiency and proficiency, where they completed the necessary surgical and ambulatory interventions using the available means. ”
Dr. Abu Alrish commended on the distinguished health education system in the Ministry of Health in specific and specialized disciplines such as gynecology, obstetrics, general surgery, internal medicine, and pediatric, pointing out that the health work system in Gaza is based on those national competencies, which helped to provide quality health service.
Praising on constructive cooperation with NIPH in implementing several projects that have made the best use in the development of services and improved the level of health services, and expressed his aspirations to continue joint work.
