Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish discusses the repercussions of the Israeli attacks on health services with the MSF France delegation
The Deputy Ministry of Health, Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish, received the delegation of Doctors Without Borders France (MSF), represented by Ms. Sarah Chetto, the head of the Foundation in Paris.
Dr. Abu Al-Rish informed the delegation of the huge destruction caused by the Israeli warplanes targeting the vicinity of the headquarters of the Ministry of Health and Al-Rimal Primary Health Center.
Dr. Abu Al-Rish elaborated that the targeting of health clinics and facilities in Gaza, including the Al-Rimal Primary Health Clinic, has led to the closure of the central laboratory services, COVID-19 vaccination, pregnancy services, telemedicine, and Coronavirus testing. The suspension of these services has severely impaired the Ministry of Health’s ability to confront the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Gaza communities.
He called on the international community to provide complete protection for health care facilities in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Abu Al-Rish said that the emergent needs to enhance providing health care, first response, operating rooms, and intensive care, given the severity of injuries that reached hospitals and the need for more than one surgical intervention to save their lives.
