Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish Recognizes the International Day of the Midwife: 100 Years of Progress

Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish, sponsored the annual celebration of the International Day of the Midwife, Recognising International Day of the Midwife: “100 Years of Progress”.

The celebration took place in the presence of the Director of the Office of the United Nations Population Fund, Mr. Osama Abu Aita, head of the Nursing union, Dr. Khalil Al-Daqran, Dr. Khalil Shaqfeh, Director General of Nursing, representatives of the World Health Organization and the health institutions, nursing directors in hospitals and primary care, and staff working in maternity wards in hospitals.

During the ceremony, Dr. Abu Al-Rish praised the prominent role played by the midwife and the importance of advocating for quality midwifery care around the globe while improving reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health in the process.

Dr. Abu Al-Rish appreciated the international UNFPA and WHO’s role in promoting the role of midwives and safe delivery.
