Since the beginning of the Great March Return, MoH- Gaza, has set up five Field Trauma Stabilization Points (FTSPs) in several areas such “Rafah – Khan Younis – Bureij – Gaza – Jabalia” this was the first experiment to the Ministry in Gaza.
It was not expected that the occupation forces would target unarmed civilians like women, children and young men, Therefore, doctors, nurses, and administration were a signed to run these points, and was provided with some medicines and medical consumables that will deal with some minor cases.
Great March of Return started on 30th March 2018 and no one thought that the occupation forces would turn these marches to massacres by targeting and sniping unarmed civilians with live ammunition. At first, we expected that the occupation forces might resort to dispute demonstrators using tear gas, but what happened they used explosive bullets and rubber bullets as well as tear gas. 158 civilians died as result to the use of live ammunition, 17.500 were wounded, 68 amputation case subsequently occurred, and nearly 600 cases require complex orthopedic and vascular surgeries, while rehabilitation may take two to three years.
It is worth mentioning that the MoH-Gaza has enforced FTSPs with specialized teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and intensive care nurses. The occupation targeted these field points with gas and fired direct bullets at the medical personnel, where the medic Musa Abu Hassanein and Razan Al-Najjar were killed and 330 medics were injured and 60 ambulances were hit by bullets or tear gas canisters.
The Ministry of Health confirms that it will spare no effort in fulfilling its duty towards the Palestinian people and renews its call on all human rights institutions and peace-loving countries to intervene to stop the blatant Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
