Hospitals in the Gaza Strip conducts six thousand surgeries during the first quarter of 2021
According to the first quarterly report for 2021 issued by the Palestinian Health Information Center (PHIC), the governmental hospitals in the Gaza Strip have performed 5,932 surgeries, of which (1150) are emergency and (2,161) scheduled operations, of which (169) 169 are highly-skilled operations, and (1603) are major operations. As for cardiac catheterization operations, (582) operations were recorded, of which (350) were diagnostic catheters.
The report stated that the number of births reached (3481), including (1007) Cesarean section.
The medical teams dealt with more than 62,000 patients in the emergency departments, as the admission rate reached 10.8%, including the surgical, internal, pediatric, gynecological departments, and more than (25) thousand were referred to the outpatient clinics.
The physiotherapy departments provided their services to (2071) patients, at a rate of 8,471 sessions during the first quarter, and the medical staff dealt with (1628) patients by providing (17084) dialysis sessions.
In terms of endoscopy service, the report indicated that (491) laparoscopic operations were performed, including internal medicine, surgery, and gynecological endoscopy.
As for daycare services, it performed (10,205) operations, including (9,186) operations inside outpatient rooms, and (1019) operations in daytime surgeries during the first quarter of this year.
During the first quarter, the laboratories of the Ministry of Health conducted more than (326) thousand laboratory tests, while the pathology examinations were recorded (1102).
The monthly report indicated that the number of radiological screens was (46,680), while the number of patients at hematology and oncology clinic reached (1961) patients.
