During the opening speech, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Youssef Abu Rish expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed and supported the establishment of this department, pointing out that this project cost reached 3.5 million USD, Dr. Abu Rish added that he hopes this department would be ideal in terms of using treatment protocols, management, and work techniques. In the same context, he appreciated PCRF crew working in the health sector, especially Mr. Steve Susebi, the director of the association for his efforts and determination to reach this moment.
It is anticipated that the new department will help in mitigating the mortality and morbidity of cancer among children.
Mr. Soseby expressed his gratitude to the founders of PCRF Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir and the thousands of volunteers who sponsored the center establishment. He also informed that the PCRF was established in Palestine 25 years ago , and considers this project as one of the greatest achievements of his organization.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiyeh Director of Rantisi Hospital addressed the attendants and informed about the suffering of the cancer children due to a lack of permits and/or coverage for treatment abroad. The department is set up as a healing facility, with the intention of ensuring that children receive proper care. Pointing out the new department includes 16 rooms, equipped for 16 patients in addition to 13 beds for the day care clinic.
