Local surgical teams in the Gaza Strip conducts about 50 cochlear implants supervised by the Qatari medical delegation

After nearly two years, the Palestinian surgical cadres and under the supervision of a Qatari medical delegation specialized in cochlear implants, perform first operations of the ninth stage of the cochlear implant program.

The Qatari medical delegation was headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Hadi, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Qahtani, and Dr. Ali Al Saadi supervised nearly 50 operations in their latest mission.

During a meeting with Dr. Khaled Abdel Hadi, Head of Hearing and Balance Department at Hamad Medical City in Qatar, said that the cochlear implant program started four years ago, which was temporarily suspended due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Dr. Abdel-Hadi pointed out that the operations will be carried out by the local Palestinian cadre in the Gaza Strip under the supervision of the Qatari medical delegation, with intervention if necessary.

“The ninth stage of operations, like its predecessors, was carried out in coordination between the Palestinian Ministry of Health and its Qatari counterpart, supported by the Gaza Reconstruction Committee, with the participation of His Highness Prince Hamad Hospital, and hosted by the Al-Quds Hospital of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza,” said Dr. Abdel Hady.

Dr. Abdul Hadi indicated that the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs donated the cochlear devices that will be implanted during the current stage and the next stage, which will take place during the next year.
