Department of Environmental Quality at the Ministry of Health organized a workshop on patient’s safety in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Palestine Children Relief Fund (PCRF), with a wide participation of medical and nursing staff from the maternity and nursery departments in hospitals and Infection control specialist”

Ms. Julia Dugljana and Ms. Andrea Romani from PCRF reviewed the indicators to check the safety of mothers before, during and after childbirth. Dr. Abdul Razzaq al-Kurd, Reproductive Health consultant, emphasized commitment of the safety procedures in accordance with WHO guidelines, especially in developing countries.

Dr. Al-Kurd said “this meeting is a continuation of the efforts of the MOH to reduce the morbidity, mortality of mothers and newborns”, noting that the maternal mortality rate in the Gaza Strip is good compared with the mortality rate in the Middle East countries because of the small geographical environment as the patients have the advantage of quick access to medical service facilities.

During the meeting, participants were divided into several groups,  the working papers  were discussed,  analyzed and the results were collected to serve mothers and their newborns and to improve their service.
