A Swiss delegation specialized in plastic surgery left Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis after completing 40 operations and examining 120 cases at the outpatient clinic in a visit that lasted for about a week. It included 9 operations like; cleft lip and cleft palate, in addition to 29 plastic surgery.
Head of Plastic Surgery Department Dr. Hamdan explained that the delegation’s conducting these operations contributed to reducing patient’ waiting lists and the burden of conversion for treatment abroad. He explained that the waiting lists of scheduled operations in the Plastic Surgery Department will be extended till May.
Dr. Hamdan explained that the scheduled operations have been postponed for nearly two months, coinciding with the events of the Great March of Return due to a large number of injuries that require several cosmetic operations. Clearing that MSF has greatly contributed to reducing lists of injuries through coordination with “Dar Al-Salaam” Hospital in Khan Younis to receive Some injuries according to priority.
Dr. Hamdan assured that the visit of the next delegation is expected to be in the month of June, and called for a training visit to the local staff and that during the implementation of several lectures and scientific procedures in addition to surgical operations.
The Swiss delegation, which includes three surgeons (face, jaw surgeon, and two plastic surgeons) accompanied with two nurses, they visit Nasser Hospital for 10 years, with an average of two visits a year. they are expected to visit Gaza strip again in June for more scheduled operations.
