Palestinians Ministry of Health in Gaza warned of halting a number of its services within days as a result of the fuel crisis in hospitals and health centers, the ministry said that the steady attrition of the fuel quantities remaining in generators tanks puts the health scene in general in front of a real catastrophe, especially with the urgent need for electricity and increased the load during the cold winter days, and the power hours exceeded outage for more than 8 hours per day, in addition to the repeated failures in networks coming into the Gaza Strip.
the need of MOH facilities as for the critical departments like operation theater, Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Baby Unit, renal dialysis departments, laboratories, sterilization and, oxygen concentrators , requires electric generators for longer hours, which would mean an increase in the rate of monthly consumption of fuel, which fell from 540 thousand liters to 300,000 liters per month as a result of improvement during the past period, pointing out that with the supply of the last of the grant by the end of last November, MOH is dealing with the rest of the fuel in a harsh austerity measures, could not in any way continue.
Ministry of Health in Gaza renewed its appeal to all international institutions and concerned agencies to intervene immediately to prevent the arrival of the crisis to the point that it is difficult to provide the health service, especially with the absence of any new stable grant that can result in the provision of fixed and regular quantities of fuel, to ensure continuity in the provision of health service at various levels.
