MOH-Gaza, a Palestinian delegation from the Physicians for Human Rights concluded two kidney transplants in Gaza
A medical delegation from the Palestinian northern governors from the Physicians for Human Rights Organization successfully concluded two kidney transplants for two patients from the Gaza Strip, in partnership with the surgical staff at Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
In the same context, the head of the hemodialysis Department at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr Abdullah Al-Qishawi, prised the presence of the medical delegation, consisting of two Palestinian doctors, Dr Ashraf Emam, a kidney and liver transplant consultant at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, and Dr Samer Diab, a consultant vascular surgeon, pointing out that the medical delegation is attending for the third time since the beginning of this year to contribute to performing kidney transplants for patients in the Gaza Strip.
Dr Al-Qishawy explained that the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, since the kidney transplant project in 2013, has worked on localizing the project by developing medical staff capabilities, as well as bringing in the necessary medical equipment to localize the service.
In turn, the kidney and liver transplant consultant at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Dr Ashraf Emam, commended the local caders’ performance in the two operations of removing the kidney from the donor and granting it to the recipient, which is carried out by our surgical cadres in urology and vascular department at the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, describing the surgical staff in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex as having a high level of professionalism and efficiency.
Dr. Imam noted that he will repeat his visit to the Gaza Strip, to build a basic base and work to support national programs aimed at localizing kidney transplantation services in the Strip.
