MOH – Gaza: Completion of the first phase of transferring oncology treatment services to the Palestinian-Turkish Friendship Hospital.
The Ministry of Health has completed the first phase of transferring treatment services for oncology patients to the Turkish Palestinian Friendship Hospital from the European Gaza Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip.
As The consultant and head of the oncology department, Dr. Khaled Thabet stated that the Turkish Friendship Hospital has been designated to unify the diagnostic and treatment services in one specialized and integrated center at the strip.
Dr.Thabet indicated that the Ministry of Health conducted a comprehensive screening with specialists and stakeholders of the Friendship Hospital and its capabilities, and made the necessary adjustments to provide integrated diagnostic, laboratory, treatment, and accommodating services for oncology patients.
As transportation is secured for patients back and forth free of charge due to the exceptional living situation in which patients live.
Dr. Thabet explained that the hospital currently has a capacity of 200 beds, and after the success of the first phase of transferring oncology services from the southern governorates, the second phase shall include Al-Rantissi Specialized Hospital, Gaza, and the northern governorates.
The Ministry of Health has introduced radiotherapy and atomic scanning service, which spares oncology patients the suffering of traveling outside the Gaza Strip, Dr. Thabet added.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health began allocating the Turkish Palestinian Friendship Hospital to oncology patients on November 7, 2021, under integrated medical, nursing, and administrative supervision; Where the hospital contains a computerized system that includes the hospital departments’ of accommodation, outpatient clinics, laboratory, radiology, and emergency.
