MOH-Gaza – Dr. Dhuhair: several cases of the “Omicron” recorded in Gaza Strip.
The Director of Preventive Medicine at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Magdy Duhair warned from a violent wave of the new Coronavairous variant, Omicron, noted that health teams discovered several new cases within the Strip.
Dr. Dhuhair said that the concern is that the Gaza Strip will record a considerable number of infections, where health care will be overwhelmed, especially with the Israeli occupation continuing to impede the entry of necessary medical devices such as mobile radiology devices, respirators, and spare parts for radiology equipment, as well as oxygen stations.
Dr. Dahir called on the international human rights organizations to pressurize the occupation to allow the necessary medical devices needed to compact the Covid-19 epidemic to enter the Gaza strip. a
“Ministry of Health recorded during the past few days a slight increase in the number of cases infected with the Coronavirus, and that those who were discovered did not leave the Gaza Strip. This means that there is a substantial number of people infected who were undetected, as health teams were unable to determine the source of infection,” Dr. Dahir said. Using exceptional available methods, the central laboratory can diagnose the new variant at a rate of approximately 80 to 90%, he added.
Dr. Dahir called on citizens of the Strip to vaccinate since it prevents the emergence of complications and serious symptoms for patients, stressing the need to follow safety procedures, wear a mask, and avoid crowded places.
