The Gaza European Hospital, in coordination with the Palestine Children’s Relief Society (PCRF), received a medical delegation from the United States. The delegation was headed by Dr. Ihab Halawish, who specializes in pediatric surgery.
Dr. Hisham Daloul, the head of the Pediatric Surgery Department, led the local team that worked with the delegation to examine 32 patients in outpatient clinics and identify those who required surgical operations.
Dr. Daloul noted that the examined cases had been prepared in advance by local medical teams.
The surgical intervention began on Saturday morning, while the delegation visit will continue until next Tuesday, where it is expected to perform 16 operations, with a rate of four operations per day.
According to Dr Dalol, these operations are considered complicated including intestinal transplant operations, and colon resection, in addition to performing on congenital malformations of the rectum and large intestine.
Dr. Halawish expressed his happiness in working with local doctors to provide medical services to the children of Palestine, praising the great cooperation he experienced, which reflects positively on patient care.
The Ministry of Health aims to bring in foreign medical delegations to provide care and develop local medical teams in the Gaza Strip.
