MOH-Gaza, in cooperation with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital, launches an electronic upper limb prosthetics workshop
The Ministry of Health in Gaza, in partnership with His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital, launched a workshop for electronic upper limbs, under the patronage of Eng. Mohammed Al-Emadi, Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and in the presence of the Palestinian Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hamad Hospital, and the representative of the Qatar Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan Al-Asiri, and Dr. Khaled Abdel-Hadi, head of the Qatari medical delegation.
Dr. Abu Al-Rish praised the State of Qatar’s role in supporting several sectors, especially the health sector in Gaza.
Mr. Al-Asiri said, today we are witnessing the launch of this workshop, which is the first in Palestine and the Middle East in terms of quality and number of beneficiaries, which gives hope to the youth amputee and children of Gaza in restoring their regular lives and integrating into society.
Mr. Al-Asiri said that the forty people who suffer from the amputation of the upper limbs in Gaza due to the Great Marches of Return injuries are preparing for the installation of advanced prosthetic limbs. These limps are directly controlled via nerves, and they will be installed in two stages in 2022.
The hospital is also preparing for the next few months to complete cochlear implantation operations funded by the Qatari Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, where 50 children from Gaza will benefit, in addition to the opening advanced diabetic foot center soon according to the latest international standards to save diabetic patients at risk of amputation.
