Deputy Minister of Health  Dr. Yousef Abul-Rish inaugurated 8th international conference of the Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University, pain management, and palliative care in Palestine.

Dr.Abul-Rish reviewed the steps of establishing a Palliative and pain management clinic at Shifa Medical Complex,  in partnership with the Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC), and another unit at Rantissi Children’s Hospital in cooperation with the Palestine Children Relief Fund  PCRF.

Dr. Abu Rish said, that there one of these unit objectives is not only to save patients’ lives but also improve their quality of life.

Palliative Care aims to improve the quality of life and healthcare for patients suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses and facing problems such as pain and other agonizing symptoms including physical, psycho-social and spiritual aspects related to terminal and chronic illnesses, not mentioning  the extremely high number of severely injured people during the “Great March of Return”, which has been on-going since March 2018, a large number of patients has been suffering from physical injuries. These injuries have a different level of pain and patients who need longer treatment time and care.
