MOH-Gaza launches a solar energy project to supply EGH with 70% of its electrical energy needs

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the inauguration of a new alternative energy project in the European Gaza Hospital, which aims to provide the vital departments of the hospital with about 70% of its electrical energy needs.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, held in the hospital today, Tuesday, the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Yusef Abu Al-Rish praised the support provided by the Japanese government to complete the project and their permanent position of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Dr. Abu Al-Rish pointed out that the project aims to ensure the continuity of electrical power delivery to the hospital, such as the intensive care departments, OR department, and consequently the continuity of providing health services to citizens.

Dr. Yusef Abu Al-Rish also praised the engineering and administrative staff efforts’, which led to the continuity of developing the Palestinian health sector in terms of construction and equipment, alongside the continuous development for the Ministry of Health regarding training medical staff.

the Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Masahiro Matsui attended the inauguration ceremony alongside a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services responsible for implementing the project, as well as representatives of the Palestinian Energy Authority.

This project is considered as one of the largest and most important projects, with a total cost of one million and 115 thousand USD as a generous donation from the Japanese government, and it is hoped that the goal will be completed by providing electric power completely through another project in the future.
