MOH- Gaza launches the National Cornea Transplant Program in the Gaza Strip

The Ministry of Health in Gaza launched the National Cornea Transplant Program in the Gaza Strip during an official ceremony organized by the Ministry in the presence of the Deputy of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish, the Legislative Council represented by Dr. Salem Salama, the Ministry’s general directors, elite community figures, dignitaries, representatives of local and international institutions, and representatives of the national and Islamic action factions.

Dr. Abu Al-Rish considered this occasion a culmination effort of the medical staff, as 250 patients were transferred abroad annually for corneal transplantation. Still, now there is no need for patients to travel.

Dr. Salameh, on the other hand, valued the role of the Ministry of Health in inaugurating this pioneering program improving the health service, and alleviating the burden on patients to obtain access to appropriate health services.
