MOH – Gaza: Local medical surgeons continue cochlear implant operations in Gaza
A Palestinian surgical team specializing in cochlear implants has completed cochlear implant operations 5-year-old Bilal Al-Thawabet child
ENT Consultant surgery and head of the medical team specializing in cochlear implants, Dr. Muhammad Murad said that the surgical staff said that all indications indicate a good response for the child.
Dr. Murad continued “Hearing disability is the second most prevalent type of disability in the Gaza Strip, and in the coming period will be continuity in conducting operations, as the surgical staff will conduct one to two cases per week to end the suffering of all children who suffer from neurological hearing loss.”
According to Dr. Murad, over the past four years, the Palestinian surgical staff excelled in performing operations in partnership and under the supervision of the Qatari medical delegation, where about 230 cochlear implants were performed with a high success rate.
Meanwhile, Bilal’s father, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health to end his child suffering, pointing out that the operation removed a great burden from his shoulders while he was planning to operate on the Gaza Strip, hoping that his child will soon be able to hear and integrate with other children.
The current cochlear implants program, in partnership with the Red Crescent, taking place at Al-Quds Hospital of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and with the support of the My Right to Hear initiative, the Estimated Company for Medical and Hearing Solutions, and the Middle East.
