Our local orthopedic doctors, in partnership with the French medical delegation, specialized in hand and peripheral nerve surgery, headed by Professor Christophe Oberlin, continue to perform dozens of pediatric surgeries at the European and Al-Shifa Hospitals.

A specialist in orthopedic surgery and one of the doctors conducting operations at the European Gaza Hospital, Dr. Hudhayfa Al-Absi, said that the delegation had examined 40 children and performed 19 surgeries during the delegation’s stay in the hospital since Thursday, February 17, 2022.

In a report issued by Al-Shifa Hospital, the delegation examined, since its arrival at the hospital on Monday, with the participation of the specialized local medical staff, “50” cases were examined with severe injuries in peripheral nerves, most of them from the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip and some cases of congenital anomalies and birth defects.

The report indicated that the delegation is expected to perform “16” major surgeries, at a rate of “3” operations per day, over a period of “6” days.
Since the beginning of the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, the Ministry of Health has adopted a policy of attracting medical delegations in order to spare citizens of traveling for treatment abroad, in addition to the local medical staff gaining expertise from the visiting delegation.
