MOH – Gaza: Modifying the protocols for neonatal services resulted in a decrease in the death rate to 50%
Dr. Nabil Al-Barqouni, Head of the Gaza Strip Nurseries Committee, GNN, said that newborns’ nurseries are witnessing a significant decrease in the death rate, as it decreased from 90% to 50%, referring to the efforts made by the Ministry of Health and in partnership with the relevant international institutions in strengthening the protocols of newborn services. Birth.
Al-Barqouni added, “The death rate was previously 18 children per thousand births, and the death rate among newborns gradually decreased to a ratio of about (10-11) per thousand births, indicating the remarkable success in preserving newborns and their lives by applying and activating the Modified protocols for nurseries.
Dr. Al-Barqouni referred to the nursery expansion projects in the Emirates Crescent Hospital, Kamal Adwan, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Al-Shifa Medical Complex Nursery, and Al-Tahrir Nursery in Nasser Medical Complex, and what these projects will represent in terms of enhancing the work environment and improving the service.
