Funded by the Norwegian government and in cooperation with MOH in Gaza, NORWAC inaugurated pain management clinic at Shifa Medical Complex.
The ceremony was attended by the Ministry of Health represented by the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Medhat Muheisen, and the Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC ) represented by Dr. Lars Peter the Pain Management Project Coordinator.
Due to the extremely high number of severely injured people during the “Great March of Return”, which has been on-going since March 2018, a large number of patients has been suffering from physical injuries. These injuries have a different level of pain, and patients who need longer treatment time and care, are left without sufficient help due to lack of capacity of the ministry of health in Gaza.
Dr. Peter added “this clinic, which is stationed in a governmental hospital meant to reduce patients’ levels of pain, including oncology patients”. This clinic would also work on training the local team on acute and chronic pain management.
