MOH – Gaza: Palestinian medical delegation conducts two kidney transplants with the participation of the local delegation

The medical delegation from the Occupied Palestinian territories specializing in kidney transplantation, in partnership with the local medical caders at Al-Shifa complex, performed two kidney transplants for two patients in the Gaza Strip.

The head of the medical delegation, Dr Abdul Khalila said that the medical staff actively participated in the two kidney transplants in Al-Shifa Hospital, as a part of the kidney transplant program.

Working with the medical delegation, the local team, has achieved one of its main goals, not only in ending the suffering of kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip but also, exchange experience and expertise, Dr. Khalila added.

Meanwhile, the head of the hemodialysis Department at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr Abdullah al-Qishawi, said the efficient participation of the local medical staff in conducting operations with local hands reflects the skill of the local staff in conducting such operations.

It is worth mentioning, in early 2013, the Ministry of Health began the first kidney transplants at Al Shifa Medical Complex with the participation of a medical delegation from the United Kingdom led by Dr Abdelkader Hammad, where the Ministry of Health brought several delegations specialized in kidney transplantation to end kidney failure patients suffering in the Gaza Strip.
