MOH- Gaza: Providing medical equipment to the Physiotherapy Department funded by the Government of Japan
The Ministry of Health in Gaza inaugurated the Japanese project aimed to provide medical equipment to the physiotherapy department at Nasser Medical Complex, funded by the Government of Japan.
The ceremony took place in the Naser Medical complex in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Hajj, and Mr. Masahiro Matsui, Head of the Economic Development Department at the Japanese Representation in Palestine.
In his speech Dr. Al-Hajj praised the government and people of Japan for their support to the Palestinian people, which helped in supporting the health services, pointing to the importance of the new project, which is a response to the urgent need for physical therapy services at Nasser Medical Complex.
Meanwhile, Mr. Matsui said that this visit to Khan Yunis Governorate in the Gaza Strip aims to celebrate the completion of this project funded by the Japanese government through the Aid Grant Program for Civil and Human Security Projects (GGP), where a grant of 87,426 US dollars was provided to the Ministry of Health to improve medical service and access To the Department of Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy in Khan Yunis by introducing new medical equipment and helping patients who were unable to obtain adequate medical services, especially in rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
Noting that more than 3,000 cases per year will be directly benefited, with nearly 20,000 cases expected to benefit from the project in total.
Mr. Matsui added that since 1993, the Japanese government has started this project, amounting to more than 2.2 billion USD donated to the Palestinian people. Since 2010, we began formulating civil and human security projects in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority through our friends and partners in the Palestinian government, NGOs, municipalities, and the private sector.
