MOH- Gaza Receives Vital Medical Aid for maternity hospitals

The United Nations Population Fund delivered the Ministry of Health in Gaza a shipment of medical supplies for maternity hospitals.

The donation of medical supplies, Funded by the Japanese government, came in response to the urgent needs of various reproductive health programs and their great interest in maternity hospitals.

“These devices will help medical teams provide better service to patients, but it is not enough, calling for more support, including specialized ultrasound devices,” said Abdullatif Alhaj Director-General of the International cooperation of Gaza’s health ministry.

Dr. Alhaj said hospitals had suffered acute shortages of the medical supplies related to maternity hospitals.

UNPFA representative in Palestine, Christine Polukos, thanked the Government of Japan for their continuous support for the Fund’s projects.

I express my concern regarding increasing cases of maternal deaths, most of which were due to Covid-19,” Ms. Polukos said.

Polukos said the partnership between the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza and UNPFA is rooted and essential for the continuation of the health services in Gaza.
