Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 community transmission in the Gaza Strip, the urge to equip a full hospital to receive infected cases emerged.
In this context, the General Director of Nasser Medical Complex, Dr. Muhammad Zaqout said: the services provided at the European Gaza Hospital have been completely transferred to the Nasser Medical Complex. As the European Gaza Hospital was emptied and converted to serve patients infected with “COVID 19”.
The services that were transferred to Nasser Medical Complex include the following: neurosurgery services, thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, vascular surgery, internal medicine services for the eastern region, and general surgery service.
As for Abu Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital, it will perform some minor operations and absorb some cases because of its capacity that can not serve all areas of Rafah.
Dr. Zaqout added: The Nasser Complex will serve all these patients, indicating that the medical staff of the European Gaza Hospital, including doctors, nurses, and administrators, has been integrated, and work schedules have been included in the Nasser Medical Complex.
Dr. Zaqoot said: the Primary Health Care’s medical tent will pursue respiratory cases outside the hospital building so that the Reception and Accidents Department will be cleared for other cases.
