MOH – Gaza, WHO holds a workshop discussing oncology services

The Palestinian Ministry of Health, in partnership with the World Health Organization, held a conference in Gaza City to discuss the oncology reality in the Gaza Strip, during which participants presented the challenges and hopes of oncology patients in Gaza.

Deputy Ministry of Health, Dr. Youssef Abu Al-Rish, said that this event sheds light on the services provided to oncology patients, where some patients whose treatments are not available in Gaza, are prevented from leaving the enclave for treatment.

Dr. Abu Al-Rish indicated that this event supports the efforts made by the Palestinian Ministry of Health to establish a unified center for oncology services in the Gaza Strip.

In turn, the director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, Dr. Sobhi Skaik elaborated that the situation of oncology patients in the Strip is a dire reality, as patients are losing their lives due to the shortage of medicines, medical consumables, diagnostic methods, therapeutic drugs, as well as radiotherapy necessary for oncology patients.
