The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza affirmed its readiness to receive returnees through Rafah crossing point to the Gaza Strip, as part of preventive measures that ensure the safety of citizens, and that the Coronavirus will not be transmitted into the Gaza Strip.
The Director of the Infection Control Department at the General Hospital Administration, Dr. Rami Al-Abadala, said that trained health teams have been distributed to the isolation hospital, and quarantine facilities, to ensure the safety of procedures from the first moment of the travelers’ arrival until reaching the designated centers.
Dr. Al-Abadla added that they will conduct preliminary and rapid medical examinations for all arrivals, in order to sort the cases to the quarantine centers or the isolation hospital in case of confirmed cases.
Dr. Moatassem Salah, the official in quarantine centers at the Ministry of Health, said that the ministry of health magnifying the ministry’s efforts the absorption capacity of a great number of returnees, where a large number of confirmed cases is expected of coronavirus.
Dr.Salah said that the health personnel (doctors, nurses, security staff, cleaners) have undergone extensive training to deal with patients and provide the necessary health care for them.
Head of the emergency committee in Gaza Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya said that two new precautionary quarantine centers were opened in the central governorate and in the governorate of Khan Yunis.
These centers were prepared to substitute schools and hotels that were evacuated previously, in order to ensure that the school year starts on time.
Beit Hanoun Hospital Director- Chairman of the Emergency Committee of the North Gaza Strip, Dr. Jamil Suleiman commented on the quarantine centers in the northern Gaza governorate preparedness, where centers were sterilized and secured.
