More than “70” open-heart surgeries during the first half of 2021 in the Gaza Strip
According to the semi-annual report issued by Al-Shifa Hospital, more than 70 open-heart surgeries were performed during the first six months of 2021.
Consultant at the Department of Open Heart Surgery Dr. Saher Abu Ghaly said that the medical team performed “13” surgeries this month.
These operations included performing coronary artery transplantation using methods like Cardiopulmonary Bypass and the beating heart technique.
The Director-General of Al-Shifa Hospital said that the department has performed appreciated efforts in light of halting medical referrals outside the Gaza Strip due to the conditions of the spread of the Covid 19 virus.
