Mr. Essam Al-daalis.. MOH honours the operators of the cochlear implant program and the localization of the service in the Gaza Strip
“We express our pride in the project of localizing cochlear implants in the besieged Gaza Strip, which was launched several years ago under the supervision and implementation of local medical cadres,” said the head of the government, Mr Essam Al-Dualis, during his speech at the honouring ceremony organized by the Ministry of Health to celebrate the localization of cochlear implant service in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Dualis praised the medical staff’s efforts in supervising the project.
Meanwhile, Deputy Ministry of Health, Dr Yousef Abu al-Rish, said during his speech “Today we celebrate the holding of more than 100 successful cases of the cochlear implant program.
Abu al-Rish added that the ministry is working on the availability of this program starting from detecting disabilities in the early stages, then intervening and developing a pre-and post-cochlear implant rehabilitation program, and then working on an intensive reintegration program in society.
For his part, the head of the cochlear implant program at the Ministry of Health, Dr Mohammed Murad, said that the program was launched at the beginning of 2017 in partnership with the Qatari delegation at Hamad Hospital, and in 2021 the service was fully resettled in Palestinian hands.
Dr Murad explained that during the previous period 310 cases of cochlear implants were performed, an average of 116 cases after settlement, expressing his hope to continue providing the service and enhance the work in this regard.
