On the International Children’s Cancer Day … MOH to inaugurate a mental health unit at Al-Rantisi Specialist Hospital
According to the latest report from the Palestinian Health Information Center, the number of registered cases of Children’s Cancer during the past five years reached 7.6%.
Dr. Medhat Muheisen, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, said that the ministry is about to open a mental health unit in Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasser’s department at Al-Rantisi Children’s Hospital to provide psychological support to the sick children and their families.
During Dr. Muheisen’s tour, accompanied by Basma Amal Foundation, to distribute gifts to children in the International Children’s Cancer Day.
The visiting delegation was received by the Director of Al-Rantisi Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Abu Nada, and Dr. Mahmoud Shabir, Head of Oncology Department, and on behalf of Basma Amal Foundation, Dr. Muhammad Mansour, Executive Director and Nutritionist at the Foundation.
Dr. Muheisen praised Basmat Amal Foundation’s integrative role with the Ministry of Health in supporting children with cancer on their International Day on February 15 each year.
Dr. Muhammad Mansour, Executive Director of the Basmat Amal Foundation, stated that they are seeking to provide services, psychological support, and supportive education for children who have dropped out of school due to sickness, in addition to recreational activities and health services such as physical therapy and health education.
Dr. Mansour appreciated the Ministry of Health, represented by the Assistant Undersecretary for their efforts in developing provided services to children with cancer to alleviate their suffering and their families.
