The Palestinian Ministry of Health- Gaza held a workshop to discuss the nutrition services guide in hospitals, Which aims to raise the quality of food provided to patients in health facilities according to their medical conditions which contribute to the treatment plans set for them.
The workshop was attended by the Director-General of Hospitals Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Haj, General Director of Supplies Department at the Ministry of Health Mr. Bassam Barhoum, and Nutrition Guide Committee Chairman Dr. Alaa Halles.
Dr. Al-Hajj stated that the Ministry of Health has developed a nutrition guide based on scientific foundations that contributes to the rational and optimal use of resources. Pointing out that the Nutrition Guide is a reference for both public and private health facilities.
He addressed the attendance regarding the non-provision of meal issues for patients in government hospitals, urging to spare health services and health staff the political disputes.
Mr.Barhoum said that the ministry has provided a qualitative nutrition menu and worked for years to raise the quality and efficiency of meals provided to patients despite all the complicated conditions that the Ministry of Health experienced.
While Dr. Alaa Helis added that nutrition guide is part of the treatment plane, which is evidenced with seven months of studies by the committee on nutrition, a set of policies were developed to determine the performance indicators and to upgrade the menu for patients.
The workshop included lectures on the visions and objectives of nutrition services, policies related to the mechanism for the request, disposal, and storage of nutrition materials.
