Press release on COVID19
Ministry of Health and the other Palestinian Governmental Institutions continue their successive precautionary measures to tackle the new coronavirus outbreak in Gaza Strip as follows:
MOH confirms that the number of cases recovering have increased to five, and the health status of the remaining cases is reassuring and stable
The medical personnel provide care, to 1897 returnees, in 27 different quarantine centers, of whom 1108 are receiving exceptional care in hotels, primary health care centers, and specialized hospitals within preventive measures.
Health facilities are very limited since MOH has received a limited amount of medical aid. These quantities are not enough to enable us to face the Corona pandemic outbreak.
Coronavirus testing materials are limited, and we will lose our ability to test for this virus in Gaza within a few days. MOH calls upon the relevant international authorities and organizations to donate sufficient amounts of PCR reagents.
We call upon all the local and international stakeholders to assume their role in supporting our urgent needs to confront the Coronavirus, including medicines, medical consumables, personal protective equipment PPE, laboratory supplies, medical devices.
MOH in Ramallah sent 1500 testing tubes, worth $4000; these tubed cannot be used without sending the relevant reagent.
MOH in Gaza urgently needs to be provided by 100 ventilators and 140 ICU beds to achieve a proper first response to facing the Coronavirus outbreak.
