The British delegation concludes the 26th stage of the kidney transplantation mission in the Gaza Strip

The British delegation for kidney transplantation concluded the 26th stage of the kidney transplantation program in partnership with the local medical staff at Al-Shifa Hospital.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Qishawi, Head of the Kidney Transplant Department at Al-Shifa Hospital, said that the British delegation headed by Dr. Abdul Qader Hammad, organ transplantation consultant at Liverpool Hospital, Britain, conducted three kidney transplants on this mission.

The Director-General of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, stated that the Ministry of Health is striving to localize the service of kidney transplantation program, by establishing a center in the near future, relying on the local medical staff in the Gaza Strip, kidney transplantation center intended to alleviate the suffering of travel of Gaza patients.

It is worth noting, that two kidney transplant programs began in 2013, completing approximately 116 kidney transplants, where the first program was supervised by Dr. Abdul Qader Hammad, a consultant kidney transplant at Liverpool Hospital, Britain, who completed 83 operations.
Where the second program was supervised by the Jordanian delegation headed by Dr. Walid Masoud, a consultant, and expert in kidney transplantation, completed 34.
